Spanish Verb Refresher - Present Tense
I studied Spanish for a long time in middle and high school, but haven’t really used it since aside from the odd time here and there, so I’m really quite rusty. Recently, I’ve been wanting to start studying it a bit more again to refresh myself, so I decided to start from the beginning and open up my old high school text book, Repaso.

Present Tense in Action
- Expresses both simple present and present progressive tense
- Asking for instructions
- Can refer to the future if another part of the sentence talks about the future
To talk about actions that started in the past but are continuing, we can use the constructions:
hace + time expression + que + present tense verb
present tense verb + desde hace + time expression
¿Cuánto tiempe hace que viven en esta casa?
Vivimos aquí hace ocho años.
¿Desde cuándo buscas trabajo?

The number of irregular verbs in Spanish was always something that threw me off, although I suppose most of these have already been committed to my memory, so maybe it’s not as bad as I thought at the time. I recall the verb conjugations, especially many of the later conjugations, getting pretty intense and making my head spin. Hopefully I’m a little wiser as well as older and can tackle it a bit better this time around.
